Why Oral Cancer Screening Matters
Oral cancer can affect anyone, regardless of age or lifestyle. While risk factors like tobacco use, alcohol consumption, and HPV infection increase the likelihood, even individuals with healthy habits can develop early lesions. Unfortunately, oral cancer often develops silently and without pain in its early stages.
That is why routine oral cancer screenings are so important. During your appointment, a careful examination of your lips, tongue, cheeks, palate, throat, and the floor of your mouth is performed to check for any unusual changes in color, texture, or tissue consistency. The jaw and neck area may also be gently palpated to check for lumps or irregularities.
