How can we help?

What Is a Dental Hygiene Diagnosis?

A dental hygiene diagnosis is a professional evaluation that identifies your current oral health condition and risk factors. It serves as the foundation for all preventive and therapeutic treatments.

During your visit, your mouth is carefully examined for early signs of gum disease, tooth decay, and other concerns that may not yet cause pain. This proactive approach helps catch potential problems early, saving you time, discomfort, and expense in the future.

The process includes several essential steps, each focused on accuracy and comfort.

Comprehensive Oral Health Evaluation & Personalized Care Plan

We begin with a comprehensive evaluation of your oral health using advanced diagnostic tools. This includes Medical/Dental history check, set of intra oral photos, Digital X-rays to capture detailed images of your teeth, bone levels, and supporting structures with minimal radiation and instant results. These images help detect early signs of cavities, infections, or bone loss that may not be visible during a routine exam. Each visit also includes an oral cancer screening to examine the mouth, tongue, lips, and throat for any unusual changes, supporting early detection and overall health. In addition, a periodontal assessment is performed to evaluate gum health by measuring pocket depths, checking for inflammation or bleeding, and reviewing bone support to identify early signs of gum disease before it progresses.

Based on these findings, a caries risk evaluation is completed to assess your likelihood of developing cavities by reviewing factors such as diet, oral hygiene habits, saliva flow, and dental history. Using all the collected information, a personalized treatment plan is created. This plan may include preventive or therapeutic options such as scaling and root planing, desensitizing care, air polishing, fluoride applications, and tailored home care recommendations. All findings and recommendations are explained clearly and simply, empowering you to make confident, informed decisions about your dental care.

A dentist referral will be provided when necessary for continuing dental care.
